Fish Fries take many hands to make them successful. Can you help for an hour? Two hours? The whole evening? Whatever time you can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you for volunteering and supporting St. Andrew. We couldn't do it without you!

Our Goal For the Season

Our goal for the 2026–2027 season is to have a pinching day once a month. There are many jobs to be done throughout the day, so even if you can only come for an hour or two, your help is greatly appreciated!

We will begin at 7:00 a.m. Below is an approximate schedule for the day.

Pinching Day Schedule

7:00 a.m. – Preparation Begins

• Peel and cut potatoes
• Cook and mash potatoes
• Prepare the cheese mixture
• Allow the potato and cheese mixture to cool in preparation for making potato balls

8:45–9:00 a.m. – Potato Ball Making

• Begin making potato balls
• Place potato balls on trays in preparation for pinching

If you arrive for pinching and have some downtime, please join us at the balling table and lend a hand! This helps the day move along much faster. We will make sure there are plenty of scoopers available!

9:30 a.m. – Dough-Making Begins

10:00 a.m. – Pinching Begins

• Dough is sheeted
• Pierogi are filled and pinched
• Pierogi are cooked
• Cooked pierogi are cooled and wrapped
• We will usually take a break around noon for lunch, then continue pinching until we are finished.

Our Goal for the Day

We plan to have everything completed by approximately 2:00–3:00 p.m., including:

• Pinching
• Cooking
• Wrapping
• Freezing
• Cleanup
